Balloon Keep Up

Group Size: 6–25 participants Duration: 10–15 minutes Materials: Balloons

Objectives:

  • Improve coordination and motor timing
  • Strengthen group cooperation
  • Increase attention and shared focus
  • Encourage active participation
  • Develop response control in dynamic settings

Instructions: Participants stand in a circle. The group keeps a balloon in the air without letting it touch the ground. No participant may hit it twice in a row. Add additional balloons to increase difficulty.

Adaptations for Neurodiversity:

  • Reduce number of balloons
  • Allow slower pace version
  • Allow hand contact instead of hitting
  • Provide rest breaks
  • Allow observer role

Sensory and Safety Considerations: High sensory and physical stimulation. Can be overwhelming for some participants.

Facilitator Notes: Monitor group energy and reduce intensity if needed.
