Hot Seat

Group Size: 6–20 participants Duration: 10–15 minutes Materials: Chair

Objectives:

  • Build self-expression and confidence
  • Strengthen verbal communication skills
  • Increase group familiarity and bonding
  • Encourage active listening
  • Support social interaction in safe structure

Instructions: One participant sits in the “hot seat.” Others ask simple, respectful questions. After a short round, another participant takes the seat. Continue until several participants have participated.

Adaptations for Neurodiversity:

  • Allow question preview
  • Allow written answers
  • Allow opt-out participation
  • Reduce social pressure by allowing paired seating
  • Use structured question cards

Sensory and Safety Considerations: Low to medium sensory load depending on group dynamics.

Facilitator Notes: Ensure psychological safety. No personal or intrusive questions.
