Two Facts and One Fiction

Group Size: 6–25 participants Duration: 10–20 minutes Materials: None

Objectives:

  • Encourage self-expression in a safe environment
  • Build trust and group connection
  • Improve listening and attention skills
  • Promote curiosity and interaction
  • Support social communication in early group formation

Instructions: Each participant prepares three statements about themselves: two that are true and one that is fictional. One by one, participants share their three statements with the group. The group discusses and tries to identify which statement is the fiction. After guessing, the participant reveals the answer. Continue until all participants have participated.

Adaptations for Neurodiversity:

  • Allow written preparation time
  • Provide examples before starting
  • Allow passing without pressure
  • Encourage simple, concrete statements
  • Reduce social pressure around guessing

Sensory and Safety Considerations: Low sensory load, moderate social exposure.

Facilitator Notes: Keep the atmosphere supportive and non-judgmental. Emphasize that guessing is not about “winning,” but about getting to know each other.

Experiencies
